The Sunol Glen Unified School District is a single-school district serving students in transitional-kindergarten through eighth grade from its campus in the heart of town. Sunol sits along Niles Canyon Road (State Route 84), a designated scenic route that winds through the canyon toward Fremont and the South Bay. Alameda Creek runs through the valley for fishing and creek-side walks, and nearby Sycamore Grove Park adds easy trails and wildlife. The Niles Canyon Railway provides heritage train rides through the canyon, and the surrounding East Bay Regional Park District lands extend the trail network into the hills on all sides.
